On August 18, 2008 it was reported that the new album, titled Folie a deux (which in French literally means “The shared madness of two”) would be released on November 4, 2008, a date which coincides with the presidential elections in the United . UU. Fall Out Boy songs to filter the Internet in something known as “Mixtape”, where he heard the initial basis of certain songs that were found in the album. It also confirms that the principal would call easy I Do not Care.
On September 25, 2008 was released exclusively on iTunes in the first video single “I Do not Care”, however, at first the video was only available for purchase and a free preview for 30 seconds. Nevertheless, the video is now available in the official channel of Fall Out Boy on Youtube. The video was directed by Alan Ferguson.
The day October 7, was released through iTunes the second single from the album, entitled “Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet” (Formerly called “Does Your Husband Know ‘”), through digital purchases only. Also notice that “What a Catch, Donnie” would be the third single and “America’s suitehearts” fourth.
On October 13, 2008, the band announced through their official website that due to problems with the previous launch date of the disc (which coincided with the presidential elections in the U.S.), the date was postponed to 16 December of that year. But also announced that due to this fact, the album contains improvements not previously planned.
The next day, October 14, released the third single, “What a Catch, Donnie,” which includes piano phases as previously announced Patrick Stump, and contributions from other singers, such as Gabe Saporta, Brendon Urie, Elvis Costello etc.. These partners sang parts of songs of previous Fall Out Boy, like Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, Dance, Dance, and even their previous single, Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet.
On December 2 was released the fourth and final single from the album, entitled “America’s Suitehearts” (Before “America’s Sweethearts”). The video shows the simple effects of media and movie stars present in ordinary people, and shows four characters (represented by the members of Fall Out Boy thereof) mentioned in other songs on the disc, including Mr. Benzedrine ( 20 Dollar Nose Bleed) by Patrick Stump, Donnie, the Catcher (From What a Catch, Donnie) by Andy Hurley, The Luckiest Man Horse Shoe Crab (From The (Shipped) Gold Standard) by Joe Trohman, and Mr. Sandman ( In Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet) by Pete Wentz.
